Patrick Grace

Western Wisconsin,

along the Mississippi River

Patrick received an art degree from UW-Madison a long time ago but his career path led him to work behind the scenes in museums and performance arts centers, gathering masters degrees in design and administration along the way.
After some time, like a meandering river, he returned to the visual arts as his main focus of attention.
The River, the landscape, the stories (real and fictional) of this place informs his ever changing series of investigations. He has spent time developing his own visual language about the driftless region, then he focused upon birds in flight, and lately for some reason he has been remembering a time when robots we can see filled his head with what our future could be.

Whether they are landscapes, avian visitors, or awkward robots his work is infused with a dash of humor, a sprinkle of truth, and an inquisitive sense of what's next.

His artwork is available as traditional 2D wall art, painted 3D somewhat functional wares, fabric based products including his newest work, handmade bandanas, as well as mailable art that comes with its own envelope.

He doesn't open his live-work space too often so the next best place to see his work is at local makers markets. Instagram is a sad, awkward place but he does his best to make your visit there informative and justified. https://www.instagram.com/pgracedesigns/ His website is neglected as he'd rather weed the garden, do the dishes, walk the neighbor's dog, anything really than spend time 'updating' it, but here you are https://patrickgrace1.wixsite.com/home ...always in progress.

He has a BSArt from UW-Madison; a MArch from UW-Milwaukee, and a MA Arts Admin from Saint Mary's U of Minnesota. Nature however continues to be his best teacher.
